Music and Band
Statement of Philosophy:
Music is an essential part of a child's education. Music instruction is standards based and all classes will be assessed. Music is a universal form of communication, expressing ideas and emotions accessible to all people. Music does not discriminate. Everyone can share, participate, create, and enjoy music. Children of all ages and backgrounds can share and create music together. All children will be included and supported in their learning and participation in music.
LGS Music Goals:
To provide a positive musical experience for all students.
To provide performance opportunities for all students.
To develop and encourage musical activity in and out of the classroom.
To gain an understanding of: different cultures, history, math concepts, and forms of expression and creativity through music.
To create a community that promotes creativity and expression, where students are comfortable to take risks, move outside their comfort zone, and to be encouraging, supportive, and respectful of others.
